Job Title: Student Ambassador
Salary: £8.45ph (London weighting £9.75ph)
Duration: January – June (unless otherwise notified). Additional opportunities available if staying over the summer.
Hours: Work is relatively flexible and there are various hours and activities for you to get involved in. A minimum of 6 hours per work is required for this role.
Location: Positions available in Cambridge, Coventry, Edinburgh, Exeter, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London and Newcastle
Closing Date: Monday 19th November 2018
DOWNING STUDENT AMBASSADOR ROLE
A Student Ambassador is someone who enjoys meeting new people, encourages others to get involved and is happy to help answer any questions someone may have. They are always eager to help out; ensuring new arrivals settle in and make the most out of their time while at University.
Student Ambassadors also get the opportunity to get involved in exciting projects and host events and tours for our students.
YOUR MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcome students and parents on check-in weekend, helping new arrivals feel at home
Show students around their new home and help them to settle in
Provide tours of the local area showing students the best places to shop, eat and have fun
Organise, host and attend social events helping to create a sense of community
Encourage students to get involved in events and activities
Act as a valuable contributor to the social media presence of Downing Students
Represent Downing Students and help answer questions at Accommodation Fairs and Open Days
Promote tours, activities and events
Use your bedroom on an adhoc basis for viewings
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU
Be a positive representative and current resident of Downing Students
Be friendly, approachable and happy to answer questions
Take the lead on hosting events and encourage students to get involved
Use your creative talents to support the team – Show an eagerness to get involved and share your experiences
SKILLS WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Excellent communication skills
Strong social media presence with a high number of followers on Instagram, facebook, snapchat etc
Good photography skills
Respectful of others and different cultures and an understanding / empathy with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds
Willingness to share ideas
Honest, considerate and patient
Reliable and observant of when others need support
Confident talking in front of large groups and one-to-one situations
Energetic and enthusiastic with drive to want to succeed
Willingness to learn and go above and beyond
A pro-active attitude
Team working and organisational skills
HOURS OF WORK
You will need to be available to attend training (we will be in touch to confirm the date) and start work in January. Your work hours will vary depending on your availability around your course and the property you live in.
